The Energy Private Developers (EPD) Association’s Clean Cooking member companies have signed a consortium agreement
This Agreement bringing together five companies with a shared mission of advancing sustainable clean cooking fuels and appliances projects.
The Head of the Clean Cooking Subsector at EPD emphasized that this consortium will enable the member companies to collaboratively address key challenges, including limited access to financing, complex supply chains, and the need to tackle large-scale projects more effectively.
As a result of this consortium, the joint efforts of the five companies will:
- Accelerate Innovation and Technology Development
By pooling expertise in stove design and fuel innovation, the consortium will foster cutting-edge solutions for clean cooking. - Scale Impact
Coordinated efforts will drive increased production, distribution, and adoption of clean cooking solutions, ensuring broader reach and impact. - Enable Resource Sharing
Through cost-sharing in areas such as research, infrastructure, and marketing, the consortium will reduce individual company burdens and enhance efficiency. - Improve Access to Funding and Investments
Collaborative efforts will boost credibility, attract sponsors, and align with global development goals, including SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy. - Address Policy and Regulatory Barriers
With a unified voice, the consortium will influence regulations, subsidies, and tax incentives to create a more supportive environment for clean cooking businesses.
This consortium offers a transformative approach for the clean cooking subsector. Instead of numerous individual efforts, forming small, focused groups with financial capacity and technical expertise will drive homegrown solutions, technological improvements, and greater financial access.
