The data reveals significant growth in both electric and hybrid vehicles in Rwanda over the past five years. Electric vehicles (EVs) saw a notable increase from just 19 in 2020 to 512 in 2024. A sharp rise of 396% in EVs occurred between 2023 and 2024, highlighting a surge in adoption. Similarly, hybrid vehicles grew exponentially from 0 in 2020 to 6,660 in 2024, with a remarkable 179% increase in 2024 compared to 2023.
In terms of growth, electric vehicles experienced an annual average growth rate of approximately 51% from 2020 to 2024, while hybrid vehicles had a higher annual growth rate of about 72% during the same period. This rapid expansion indicates a strong shift toward more sustainable vehicle options in Rwanda.
