Energy Private Developers(EPD) and BK Foundation Forge Strong Partnership for Environmental Sustainability and Community Development. In a significant step towards fostering environmental sustainability in Rwanda, the Energy Private Developers(EPD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BK Foundation. This partnership is a testament to both organizations’ shared commitment to improving the livelihoods of Rwandan communities through sustainable energy development initiatives.

BK Foundation’s Executive Secretary, Ms. Ingrid Karangwayire, emphasized the foundation’s dedication to education, innovation, and environmental conservation. She expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with EPD, particularly in the context of tackling climate change, reducing carbon footprints, and contributing to Rwanda’s green future. Ms. Karangwayire highlighted the foundation’s prior work on tree planting initiatives and its ongoing focus on sustainable development.

EPD Executive Chairman Dr. Ivan Twagirashema reflected on the Remarkable achievement this partnership represents, noting how far the association has come in its mission. He expressed pride in the collaboration, especially given that the BK Foundation is a respected Rwandan partner with shared values and goals. Dr. Twagirashema thanked the EPD and BK Foundation teams for their efforts in making this partnership a reality and looks forward to groundbreaking initiatives to follow.

The MoU marks the beginning of a powerful partnership aimed at driving environmental sustainability and community development in Rwanda, particularly in off-grid areas. While the collaboration will focus on various initiatives, one of the first major projects will be the provision of sustainable lighting solutions and the distribution of Improved Cook Stoves (ICS) across communities in Rwanda. Clean energy empowers communities by enabling students to study after sunset, improving air quality with safe cookstoves, and building a sustainable future for generations.

This collaboration between EPD and BK Foundation is an exciting milestone that holds the potential for significant transformation in Rwanda’s energy landscape and beyond.
